Data license

Census data is free to reuse under CC BY 4.0. What the license covers, what it does not, and how to credit the AI Visibility Census.

Last updated

Short answer: Census data is free to use under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0). You can copy, share, chart and build on it, including commercially, as long as you credit the AI Visibility Census, link to the license and say if you changed anything.

What the license covers

  • Edition results: the tables, scores and rankings published with each edition.
  • Question sets: every buyer question used in an edition.
  • Downloadable data files (CSV and JSON) published with each edition.
  • Charts and figures in edition pages.
  • Aggregate figures from our crawler log published on the experiments page and in Lab notes.

What it does not cover

  • Our name and logo. “AI Visibility Census” and the Census mark are not licensed for reuse except to credit us.
  • Article text. Articles, Lab notes and other written pages are copyright of the AI Visibility Census. Short quotes with a link back are welcome.
  • AI answers we quote. Edition data records what AI tools said. The wording of those answers comes from the tools, not from us, and our license does not cover it.
  • Firm names and trademarks that appear in the data belong to their owners.

How to credit us

Use this line, or something close to it:

Source: AI Visibility Census, Edition [number], [month year], aivisibilitycensus.com. Licensed under CC BY 4.0.

If you changed the data (filtered, combined or recalculated it), say so, for example “Adapted from AI Visibility Census data”. Please do not credit us in a way that suggests we endorse you, your product or your conclusions.

No warranty

The data is published as recorded under our methodology, with its stated limits. It is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. If you find an error, tell us through our corrections policy.
